We recently completed a stunning remodel in Round Lake, Illinois. The owner wanted several things out of the new kitchen:
- An updated farmhouse look with some of the more common kitchen cabinet amenities
- To gain more storage space without changing the footprint of the existing kitchen
- To tie their casual living space together
So we got rid of the pantry closet, extended the island, and stacked the upper cabinets. In the family room, we added custom bookcases with additional storage space and shiplap paneling above the mantel where they hung their TV to make it visible from the kitchen. In order to get that farmhouse look and feel, we added a country farm sink and integral hood.
